Celebrating St David’s Day in London

St David’s Day is always a special moment to celebrate Welsh culture, heritage, and food. This year, we had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a two-day celebration of Welsh produce at Spitalfields Market in London on 28th February and 1st March.

Located in one of London’s most historic and well-known market destinations, Spitalfields provided the perfect backdrop to showcase the quality, provenance, and character of Welsh food. The event formed part of a wider St David’s Day initiative organised by Food & Drink Wales, the Welsh Government’s food division, which uses food and drink as a powerful way to celebrate Welsh identity and creativity.

For us, the weekend was about bringing a taste of the Usk Valley to the capital. Across both days, we had the chance to meet hundreds of visitors, share samples of our cheeses, and talk about the inspiration behind the range. Many people who stopped by were discovering us for the first time, and it was incredibly rewarding to introduce them to the flavours and stories that shape what we do.

At the heart of our cheesemaking is a strong connection to place. The Usk Valley is known for its lush pastureland and rich agricultural heritage, and these qualities are reflected in the cheeses we produce. From the landscapes that inspire the names of our cheeses to the ingredients we carefully select, every product we make aims to capture a sense of the region.

Events like this are also a valuable opportunity to share the story behind artisan food. Visitors weren’t just interested in tasting the cheeses; they were curious about how they’re made and the people involved in the process. Being able to have those conversations face-to-face is something that makes these events particularly special.

The atmosphere throughout the weekend was lively and celebratory, with Londoners and visitors alike embracing the chance to experience a slice of Wales in the city. St David’s Day is a proud moment in the Welsh calendar, and celebrating it by sharing authentic Welsh produce with new audiences felt like a fitting way to mark the occasion.

We returned home incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and proud to have played a small part in celebrating Welsh food and drink during St David’s Day weekend.
