We've officially launched Blorenge, our new Brie-style cheese made using fresh Jersey cow’s milk sourced from a local herd in the Usk Valley.
The cheese marks the our first move into soft cheese, expanding our range of artisan, Welsh-made cheeses. Produced in small batches at our micro-dairy in Cwmbran, Blorenge has been developed to highlight the natural richness and character of Jersey milk, resulting in a cheese with a soft, luxurious texture and a delicate, well-rounded flavour.
Blorenge takes its name from the Blorenge hill, which rises above the market town of Abergavenny and overlooks the Usk Valley. Known for its sweeping views and strong sense of place, the hill reflects the landscape and heritage that underpin the cheese’s identity.
Milk for Blorenge is supplied by local dairy farmer Josh Morgan of Josh’s Jerseys, whose herd is based just a few miles from the dairy. The close proximity between farm and the dairy allows for a direct relationship between milk and cheesemaking, ensuring quality at every stage.
The herd is pasture-fed for most of the year, with cows grazing outdoors and managed as a closed herd, where successive generations are bred and reared on the farm. Milking takes place once a day, supporting animal health and longevity. Soil health is also a key focus, with natural processes such as aeration and sub-soiling used alongside regular sampling to maintain strong soil biology - an approach that underpins the quality of the milk.
Made using pasteurised Jersey cow’s milk, Blorenge is distinguished by its naturally high butterfat content, giving the cheese a deep yellow paste and a rich, creamy consistency. As it matures, the texture softens further, developing into a smooth, indulgent cheese with subtle complexity.
Reflecting the seasonal nature of the herd’s pasture-based diet, Blorenge will be available from March through to December each year.
Blorenge is available now through selected farm shops, delis and via our online shop.
